Plating

plating

Plating describes surface-covering where a metal is deposited on a conductive surface.

Zinc coatings prevent oxidation of the protected metal by forming a barrier and by acting as a sacrificial anode if this barrier is damaged.

The tin-plating process is used extensively to protect both ferrous and nonferrous surfaces.

Chromate conversion coating is a type of conversion coating applied to passivate aluminium, zinc, cadmium, copper, silver, magnesium, tin and their alloys to slow corrosion.
